Helpful hints

Pack well and light, and in plastic bags first, underwear and socks in a plastic bag, tops and t shirts in a plastic bag , you get the idea. You have your riding jacket if it turns cold or wet, so a light fleece is all you really need for your night time stroll, one pair of long trousers and a pair of shorts, I now only take sports sandal's for when in not in bike gear light and don't take a lot of room.
When we are touring now the wife's pile is smaller than mine, compared to our first trip. Remember a few minutes lets you wash your smalls and T-shirt in the shower.

Don't plan to much in a day, or be flexible; better one really enjoyable stop than rushing two or three stops in. We always try to plan a visit / stop around lunch time so we can explore before and after lunch then ride again to stop and explore where ever we decide to overnight, we generally do not book ahead, as we sometimes see a road that looks interesting and head off up it. Be flexible adapt enjoy , I once got very drunk in a fire station in Austria and our Pension lady host would not let me ride the next day for quite a few hours, it was the harvest festival and the beer flowed .

Take pictures, speak to the locals, have an adventure, make memories and stories to tell your friends, thats why we call it the freedom key.
